The Institute For the Future (IFF) at the University of Nicosia, has joined enterprise software firm R3’s collaborative initiative to develop innovative applications and solutions on its Corda blockchain platform.
Corda is an enterprise-grade blockchain platform that removes costly friction in business transactions by enabling institutions to transact directly using smart contracts, while ensuring the highest levels of privacy and security. R3 recently launched Corda Enterprise, a commercial distribution of Corda specifically optimised to meet the demands of complex institutions.
Objectives of this partnership include joint research and contribution towards Corda’s code base, construction of Corda-oriented professional certification material and co-organizaton of Corda Bootcamps. To start with, a joint Corda Bootcamp will be organized at the University of Nicosia’s annual blockchain conference (Decentralized 2019), which is taking place between the dates October 30 – November 1, 2019. The bootcamp is a full-day session for those wishing to learn the fundamentals of the Corda blockchain platform and start developing their own CorDapp.
UNIC’s IFF is proud to join R3’s global network of more than 300 of the world’s largest financial services firms, technology companies, central banks, regulators, and trade associations working together on Corda.
George Giaglis, General Director at the Institute For the Future, comments: We are very delighted to join forces with R3 and work together toward expanding the boundaries of our knowledge in enterprise blockchain platforms. Together with R3, we plan to implement a number of educational and research activities, the first of which is a co-organised educational workshop on Corda (the Corda Bootcamp) that will take place on October 30, 2019 in Athens, just before UNIC’s flagship annual Blockchain conference, Decentralized 2019.
David E. Rutter, CEO of R3, comments: “We’ve always known that the success of Corda doesn’t lie only in the platform itself, but in the depth and ingenuity of the ecosystem of developers and applications built around it. That’s why introducing developers to Corda is one of the most important things we do. Working with the IFF gives us an opportunity to collaborate with sector leaders to greatly enhance the Corda ecosystem as well as help the IFF’s members engage more deeply with the incredible potential of blockchain.”
R3 is an enterprise blockchain software firm working with a broad ecosystem of more than 300 members and partners across multiple industries from both the private and public sectors to develop on Corda, its open-source blockchain platform, and Corda Enterprise, a commercial version of Corda for enterprise usage.
R3’s global team of over 200 professionals in 13 countries is supported by over 2,000 technology, financial, and legal experts drawn from its global member base.
The Corda platform is already being used in industries from financial services to healthcare, shipping, insurance and more. It records, manages and executes institutions’ financial agreements in perfect synchrony with their peers, creating a world of frictionless commerce.
