The University of Nicosia Research Foundation (UNRF), under the coordination of Altius Francisco de Vitoria Foundation (Spain), and in partnership with General Directorate of Social Services and Social Integration – Community of Madrid (Spain), Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum – UNESCO Chair in Bioethics & Human Rights (Italy), BIDA e.V Kultur und Bildung (Germany), European Information Centre (Bulgaria), Stowarzyszenie B-4 (Poland), Vilniaus Verslo Kolegija (Lithuania) and Diagrama Foundation (UK), are organising a one day conference on April 16th 2018 entitled “Refugee Crisis: Background and Solutions”.

This event is organised alongside various other activities in the field of solidarity, social engagement and volunteering at EU level, aiming to engage 750 direct and approximately 16.000 indirect beneficiaries.

The EuroSol project aims to bring together citizens from different countries who may have different perceptions about asylum and migration, and encourage them to re-negotiate the terms of asylum and migration. More specifically, stakeholders participating in the Nicosia debate will discuss commonly accepted solutions at both local and national levels, and will exchange thoughts and opinions at a European level to influence politicians and policy makers on promoting intercultural dialogue, combating stigmatisation of immigrants and fostering tolerance and empathy, which in turn will bring about more cohesive, respectful, peaceful and tolerant EU societies.
