Partners also explored innovative educational approaches aimed at strengthening sustainability competences and improving the alignment between academic programmes and labour market needs.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Nicosia contributes to the project through its expertise in education and training, digital innovation, research, and curriculum development. The Institute is actively involved in supporting the design of innovative learning methodologies and the integration of AI-enabled educational practices within higher education environments.<\/p>\n<p>The LTTA in Malta also marked an important step towards the project\u2019s pilot implementation phase. The University of Nicosia is expected to launch its pilot activities in October 2026, contributing to the testing and validation of the project\u2019s educational framework and learning materials.Over the coming months, the GreenToC consortium will continue working on the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>development and refinement of curriculum content on green transformation strategies;<\/li>\n<li>creation of digital and AI-supported educational resources;<\/li>\n<li>preparation and implementation of pilot activities across partner institutions;<\/li>\n<li>stakeholder engagement activities involving academia and industry;<\/li>\n<li>collection of feedback to support the sustainability and practical relevance of project outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Through these actions, the project aims to strengthen the role of Higher Education Institutions in supporting the green and digital transition, while equipping learners and educators with future-oriented sustainability in Rome for WP3 Training on Whistleblowing and Environmental Protection<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The partners of the SENSOR project (project ID: 101215243) met in Rome in Italy, for a two-day training activity organised under Work Package 3 (WP3), focusing on capacity building for civil society organisations, national and local authorities, and other relevant stakeholders working on environmental protection and whistleblowing practices.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting brought together representatives from Cyprus, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, to strengthen cooperation and advance the project\u2019s shared objective of promoting whistleblowing as an effective tool for environmental protection and the achievement of the European Union\u2019s climate neutrality goals. During the training sessions, partners exchanged expertise and explored innovative educational approaches aimed at improving awareness, understanding, and implementation of whistleblower protection frameworks across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The training formed part of WP3, which focuses on capacity building activities targeting CSOs, public authorities, and policymakers. Discussions addressed the current challenges surrounding whistleblower protection, reporting procedures, and the role of transparency and accountability in tackling environmental wrongdoing. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening collaboration between public institutions, civil society organisations, and citizens.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Nicosia Research Foundation (UNRF), coordinator of the SENSOR project, led the development of the educational material used during the training activities. As outlined in the project proposal, UNRF is responsible for coordinating the research component of the project and leading the preparation of the WP3 educational resources and training content. The material was designed using interactive and non-formal learning methodologies to encourage active participation, dialogue, and knowledge exchange among participants.<\/p>\n<p>The sessions in Rome also provided an opportunity for partners to review the progress achieved so far under the project and to prepare the next implementation phases, including awareness-raising activities, stakeholder engagement initiatives, and public outreach actions planned in the participating countries.Over the coming months, the consortium will continue implementing activities aimed at strengthening whistleblower protection ecosystems and promoting environmental accountability across Europe. Upcoming actions include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>delivery of additional training activities and workshops for CSOs and public authorities;<\/li>\n<li>engagement with policymakers and stakeholders to discuss improvements to whistleblower protection frameworks;<\/li>\n<li>development and dissemination of educational and awareness-raising materials;<\/li>\n<li>public engagement activities designed to increase understanding of whistleblowing procedures and citizens\u2019 rights;<\/li>\n<li>promotion of innovative non-formal learning approaches, including interactive educational tools and activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Through these actions, the SENSOR project aims to contribute to stronger transparency mechanisms, greater public awareness, and more effective protection of the Psychiatry and Mental Health<\/a> in Gala\u021bi, Romania.<\/p>\n<p>Held under the auspices of the International College of Neuropsychopharmacology (CINP), the conference aims to cultivate rigorous scientific dialogue, encourage collaboration beyond disciplinary boundaries, and keep the human dimension of mental health at the centre of academic and clinical practice.<\/p>\n<p>The conference had a multidisciplinary character, drawing professionals from multiple disciplines such as psychiatry, psychology, neuroscience and pharmacology. Prof. Aharonson was invited to give a keynote speech on digital healthcare in the context of psychiatry titled &#8216;Digital Psychiatry: Let\u2019s Talk!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>She also gave an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UUSLZ6mJi0o&amp;t=1379s\">interview<\/a> to local news station MPlus TV (TeleMoldova Plus). In research, he noted AI\u2019s growing capacity to accelerate discovery, support modelling and simulation, analyse large-scale datasets and transform publication and research workflows. He also underlined the implications for university operations, including student services, quality assurance, administrative efficiency, strategic planning and institutional governance.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Drikakis further emphasised that AI\u2019s impact extends beyond higher education into industry, where it is changing productivity models, innovation cycles, workforce skills and the relationship between universities and employers. He argued that universities must respond not only by adopting new tools, but by preparing students, researchers and institutions for a labour market and innovation ecosystem increasingly shaped by intelligent systems.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAI is changing how knowledge is produced, taught and applied. guest lecture at Aston Law School on his latest research, examining the fallacies of human adjudication, building on his previous research regarding public perceptions of AI-assisted rapid preliminary adjudication.<\/p>\n<p>The lecture explored how debates surrounding AI in civil justice often overlook the existing limitations of traditional human adjudication, including inconsistency, subjective reasoning, cognitive bias, procedural delay, and concerns surrounding fairness and transparency. Drawing on comparative research across Cyprus, Germany, and England &amp; Wales, Dr Kyriakides\u2019 presentation considered how these longstanding challenges continue to affect public trust in dispute resolution systems.<\/p>\n<p>As Dr Kyriakides noted during the lecture, \u201cthe real comparison is not between \u2018biased AI\u2019 and \u2018neutral humans\u2019, but between human bias and algorithmic bias\u201d. He explained that human adjudication is often shaped by inconsistency, institutional pressures, and subjective decision-making, whereas AI systems, despite their risks, may at least be tested, with a timely and thought-provoking lecture by Professor Nikolaos Spyridis on the growing threat of emerging infectious diseases and future pandemics.<\/p>\n<p>In his presentation, titled &#8216;Disease X and Emerging Viruses: How Close Are We to the Next Pandemic&#8217;?, Prof. Spyridis warned that future global health crises are statistically inevitable, stressing that the world must move away from asking if another pandemic will occur and instead focus on when it will happen and how prepared health systems are to respond.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing on data from the 21st century, Prof. Spyridis noted that epidemics now occur approximately every three to four years, while major pandemics emerge roughly every seven years. He emphasized that rapid and coordinated international action will be critical in mitigating the impact of future outbreaks.<\/p>\n<p>A key focus of the lecture was the importance of what he described as the &#8216;100-day response window&#8217; \u2014 the period within which global health authorities should be able to identify new pathogens and develop effective treatments and vaccines.
