Dr Katherine Fincham

Dr Katherine Fincham-Louis has a BSc in Political Science and Communication from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA and an MSc in Teaching English as a Second Language from the School of Education at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California, USA.  She has worked as an ESL practitioner for over twenty-five years and has taught in the USA, Canada and Cyprus. She has worked extensively in the development and implementation of the English language courses and program at the University of Nicosia. In 2012 she completed her Doctorate in Education with the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland; exploring the role of language and identity issues for bilingual children in state elementary schools in Cyprus. She is currently Lecturer at the University of Nicosia and her research interests include bilingualism/multilingualism, bilingual and multilingual education, language and identity, trans-language, participatory research, immigrant rights, linguistic rights and social justice in education.
