The Blockchain Executive Summer School, organised by UNIC, UCL and CBT, came to a close on Friday. The 3-day event (3-5 October 2018) focused on helping executives understand the true potential of this nascent technology.

It was aimed at senior executives and managers and provided participants with both a specially developed framework to evaluate blockchain technology from a business and regulatory aspect, as well as the network to implement blockchain technologies. More than 20 participants, including representatives from all over the world (UK, Korea, Mexico, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain) from financial institutions, cryptocurrency exchanges and the government, gained the insights and tools to guide their organisations in dealing with disruptive blockchain technologies.

The course was taught by leading academics and blockchain practitioners, who are engaged in implementing the technologies on the frontlines, such as Prof. Tomaso Aste, Prof George Giaglis, Dr Theodosis Mourouzis and Mr Nikhil Vadgama. Previous taught programmes have attracted pioneering blockchain practitioners from organisations including R3, Santander, IBM, Ethereum, Hyperledger, Bitcoin and the European Commission.

Our next event, Decentralized 2018, will be the largest and most in-depth event of its kind in Europe focused on the business and political implications of blockchain technologies. It will take place on 14-16 November in Divani Caravel Hotel, Athens, Greece and will feature 70+ world renowned industry leaders and academics from the blockchain and crypto sector such as Jameson Lopp (Founder Mensa Bitcoin SIG), Spiros Margaris (Top Fintech influencer), Peter Rizun (Chief Scientist, Bitcoin Unlimited), Antonis Polemitis  (CEO of University of Nicosia), Garrick Hileman (Head of Research at Blockchain Luxemburg S.A), Eva Kaili (Member of European Parliament).
